Training Programme on "Innovative Design in Plaster Mould Making"

The trust conducted four training sessions (3 months each) for potters in and around Santiniketan on "Training in Innovative Design in Plaster Moulds". The programme was conducted by designer Sri Chanchal Ahmed at Daronda, a village 12 KM from Santiniketan. 40 artisans (in batches of 10) attended the same.
The trust also conducted one training session (3 months each) for potters at Vill. Hatpara, PO. Kunor, Dist. North Dinajpur on "Training in Innovative Design in Plaster Moulds". The programme was conducted by designer Sri Debasish Jana. 10 artisans attended the same.


Skill Upgradation Training Programme on Kantha Stitch, Jute, Tailoring
 

SAMT has been conducting skill upgradation training programmes on “Kantha Stich”, “Jute” and “Tailoring” at Geetanjali Cultural Complex, Santiniketan since the last five years.  About 600 women Self Help Groups in and around Santiniketan participated in the training.  These programmes have been financially supported by West Bengal Swarojgar Corporation Limited, under Ministry of Self Help Group and Self Employment, Government of West Bengal. 
 
The training are divided into two parts.  The first part is learning of design and stitch of various types of garments and sarees and adopting new design and techniques.  In the second part the participants were taught costing and pricing of a product, developing entrepreneurship capacity, concept of online marketing & export. 
 
At the end of the programme the trainees as well as the products developed by them during the training course were evaluated and advised about necessary modification in the same.

Training on “Basic Tailoring & Garment Making”
 
Government of West Bengal had taken an initiative of conducting training programme on various subjects for the inmates of all correctional homes in the state.  As a part of this project SAMT was been entrusted to conduct a training on “Basic Tailoring & Garment Making” for the inmates of Suri District Correctional Home, Suri, Dist.  Tailoring and garment making training program
 
Thirty (30) inmates (life convict) participated in this 48-days training.  In the programme, the participants, without having any knowledge of tailoring, were trained to make various types of garments.  At the valedictory session the trainees as well as the products developed by them during the training course were evaluated and the participants unanimously accepted the usefulness of having trained.  Certificates have also been issued to them.
